United States Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has recently had to come to the defence of the eldest of her four sons, who is facing allegations of misdemeanor citation for child abuse involving his son. 20-year-old Tyler had his son when he was 17 years old. The incident reportedly took place on July 11, and a Denver-based publication, Westword, cites "criminal negligence" as the offence.
According to the Windsor Police Department (WPD), Tyler was flagged with a criminal citation in Colorado. Not much about the case has been made public, although Lauren Boebert issued a statement to People Magazine, saying,
"Tyler has been doing a great job getting his life on track as a father and citizen over the past year."
The congresswoman continues,
"Unfortunately, this event stems from a miscommunication on monitoring my young grandson that recently led to him getting out of our house.”
As of July 28, there is no further insight as to the exact nature of the events that transpired to lead to the citation.
Lauren Boebert’s son, Tyler legal past
Lauren Boebert’s son, Tyler, is not dealing with his first legal trouble. In February 2024, he was arrested for incidents of property theft and vehicle trespass. The felony charges levied by the Rifle, Colorado Police Department were as follows,
“Four felony counts of Criminal Possession ID Documents - Multiple Victims, one felony count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and over 15 additional misdemeanor and petty offenses."
At the time, his mother, Lauren Boebert, shared the following statement with People Magazine in response to the coverage of his crimes becoming public.
"I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn't ask for. It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track. I will never give up on him and I will continue to be there for him."
She continued,
"As an adult and father, Tyler will take responsibility for his actions and should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen."
Tyler's arrest comes on the heels of his father, Jayson, facing charges for a public altercation involving his ex-wife and Tyler's mother, Lauren Boebert.
