Rapper and internet personality Lil Tay has made a comeback with new revelations into her personal, professional and life challenges. The 18-year-old, in a recent interview, opened up about her viral fame, death hoax, and multimillion-dollar earnings, as well as comparing herself to Harry Potter.
Lil Tay celebrated her 18th birthday in the month of July this year by officially launching her OnlyFans account. She later boasted of earning an incredible $20 million in her first week, claiming to have made over $1 million in only three hours.
The decision to join OnlyFans came after years of being known as the “youngest flexer of the century,” known for her rapping style, flexing luxury cars, and feuding with viral stars like Bhad Bhabie and Woah Vicky.
Lil Tay has not changed her concentration on riches in spite of her detractors:
“Without money, what [are] you going to do? Everybody wants money regardless of whether they admit it or not. Money makes the world turn.”
At the age of nine, Lil Tay first gained notoriety in 2018, but her popularity was quickly eclipsed by upsetting claims of abuse and a custody dispute between her parents. She vanished from the internet suddenly and reappeared years later.
She and her brother Jason were falsely announced to be dead in a shocking Instagram post in August 2023. Tay then went on to announce the next day that it was not real and blamed the hoax on hackers. She remembered:
“I woke up to my phone being blasted with calls and texts. My mom was being spammed. Everybody was worried. I was like, ‘What the hell's going on?’ It was really surreal and weird, and also there was a lot of people posting tributes to me, which is weird in itself.”
While Tay's father, Christopher Hope, has refuted Tay's accusation that he participated in the hoax. He then claimed that her brother had made up accusations of abuse, which led to a split in the family that has persisted.
More on Lil Tay's interview, where she talks about her health scare, music, feuds, and her claims of being 'the same' as Harry Potter
After experiencing abnormal heartbeats, Lil Tay had open-heart surgery in September 2024 to remove a tumor. During the treatment, doctors reportedly stopped her heart for seventy minutes. She said:
“I was getting irregular heartbeats, heart palpitations for a while, but it really wasn't that long of a time period that I knew about this. And I definitely did not know that I was going to need heart surgery to remove a f------ tumor.”
Now in recovery, she has started writing music again. One of her songs, "Stuck in July," is an homage to a close friendship rather than a romantic relationship, according to her.
Lil Tay has persisted in releasing songs like Growing Up (2024), Sucker 4 Green (2023), and Stuck in July (2025). Her social media is filled with 'rich flexes' which include luxury purchases, flexes, and disses.
She has been busy with her feuds as well. She then went on to call out Sophie Rain, the creator of Bop House, for a $60 million battle. She said:
“She’s scared to fight me. How are you going to talk about me, name-drop me and you can't even back that up. Come on now. And then you want to backpedal?"
Lil Tay has also rekindled her feud with Bhad Bhabie, even daring her to a boxing match. She said:
"But I am training to box. So s---, let me box somebody else then... I'll box Bhad Bhabie. I beat her OF record, I could beat her in a boxing match because she's still harassing me to this day. That's inexcusable behavior. There's a video of her saying she wants to fight me since I was a kid. Now we're both over 18, let's do it then.”
Tay maintains that she is more than simply her online identity, despite her controversial reputation. Trained in classical piano and dance, she still draws inspiration from her childhood.
She told PEOPLE:
“Me and Harry are really f------ similar. We both got famous at a young age. We both had our deaths falsely announced. And we both had our names dragged through the mud in the press as children. I’ve read all the books multiple times. Me and Harry are the same person.”
According to Lil Tay, she is prepared to take back her story:
“Really, it doesn’t matter what anybody else says about me. Everybody’s scared of judgment. Who gives a f---? It’s your life.”
Lil Tay concluded:
“And when they're mad, it's because they don't have what you have, which is money and talent. I’m going to always s--- on these b------ with my talent. I'm one of the greatest pop stars of this generation and that is waiting to manifest right now.”
