What happened between Nawat Itsaragrisil and Fatima Bosch at the Miss Universe pageant?

As per reports, Nawat Itsaragrisil engaged in verbal confrontation with Fatima Bosch. It was about her allegedly not posting on social media about the pageant’s host country, Thailand. It is also reported more contestants did not take part in shoots involving sponsors. After the Miss Universe director called Bosch out in front of everyone, she reportedly tried to clarify.

As seen in a video posted by The Independent, Itsaragrisil said it was not about her. Bosch said it was not about her but all those people she represented. The director responded:

“I didn’t give you opportunity to talk. Please keep politeful for me. I still talking.”

He said that while he was already speaking, she shouldn’t have stood up and spoken. She said:

“Because I have a voice.”

The Miss Universe director replied that even though she had a voice, she must be respectful. She then argued that he didn’t respect her as a woman. He then called security to the hall. The room then filled with commotion and Itsaragrisil said:

“She stand and she talk by herself.”

Bosch then said:

“As a woman, we have respect. They need to have respect for us. I’m here representing a country and it’s not my fault that you have problems with my organization.”

She then walked out of the room and the other contestants stood up. As they began walking out of the room, Itsaragrisil asked them to sit down. He said if any of them wanted to continue in the Miss Universe pageant, they must take their seats.
