Kristen Stewart burst onto the scene as a child actor opposite Jodie Foster in 2002’s Panic Room. In the time since, she has cemented herself as a true force in the industry based on some iconic roles and memorable performances.

In the most recent news about the Love Lies Bleeding star, Kristen Stewart opened up about potentially returning to the Twilight franchise in an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Creative Impact Awards. Interestingly, her dream would be to revisit the series from a vastly different perspective: the director’s chair.

“I would love — look. I love what Catherine [Hardwicke] did, I love what Chris [Weitz] did, I love what all of the directors did with the movies. They were so themselves and weird and kind of like, squirrelly, and just so present in that time when they didn’t really know what they were yet, like before they blew up.”

She went on to add,

“I know; imagine if we had a huge budget and a bunch of love and support, I don’t know. I would love to readapt—yeah, sure, I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it, I’m committed.”

While this is not a concrete affirmation on her part, fans of the Twilight franchise are surely thrilled by the news of her possible return. It would not be her first time at the helm of a film either, with her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, already receiving rave reviews.

Kristen Stewart on future projects, more

In a feature interview with The Hollywood Reporter on December 4, Kristen Stewart gave several insights into what the future might hold for her in film. She mentioned that after her directorial debut, she would be happiest to direct a simpler project on a much smaller scale to ensure that there is no interference from outside voices.

“I need 10 people to help make this movie with me in Los Angeles, and all the actors are my friends, and I don’t need to make any money — we can make it for absolutely nothing in four to six weeks. We will make this in the dead of night and nobody will know it. F*cking try to shut us down — absolutely not! That’s the way I want to make my next movie.”

She added that she needed to stop scrutinizing her filmmaking debut as,

“I want to make my next movie so badly. So I need to stop eating this one over and over and over and over.”

It’s currently unclear what’s next on the horizon for Kristen Stewart, although the initial response to The Chronology of Water suggests that her future is certainly bright.
