Donald Trump has denied the claims that he gifted Jeffrey Epstein a letter on his birthday. The report first surfaced after the Wall Street Journal published an article saying Epstein received birthday letters from his friends on his 50th birthday, celebrated in 2003, which also allegedly included Trump.
The gift was customized by Ghislaine Maxwell into a book full of letters to give Epstein as a gift.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump dismissed the claims by saying:
"This is not me. This is a fake thing. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal story. I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women... It’s not my language. It’s not my words."
What did Donald Trump allegedly write in a birthday letter to Epstein?
According to the Wall Street Journal, the letter allegedly given by Trump to Epstein had a typed note of a pretend conversation between the two. As per the outlet, Trump said:
"We have certain things in common, Jeffrey."
After which Epstein reportedly says:
"Yes, we do, come to think of it."
In another line, Trump asks Epstein:
"Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?"
To this, Epstein replies:
"As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you"
As per WSJ, the letter ended with the line:
"Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret"
Donald Trump plans to sue Wall Street Journal
After the report went viral, Trump revealed his plans to sue the Wall Street Journal in a Truth Social post that read:
"The Wall Street Journal, and Rupert Murdoch, personally, were warned directly by President Donald J. Trump that the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued."
He continued:
"The Editor of The Wall Street Journal, Emma Tucker, was told directly by Karoline Leavitt, and by President Trump, that the letter was a FAKE, but Emma Tucker didn’t want to hear that. Instead, they are going with a false, malicious, and defamatory story anyway"
Vice President JD Vance also shared a post on X referring to the WSJ's report with the caption:
"Forgive my language but this story is complete and utter bullsh*t. The WSJ should be ashamed for publishing it. Where is this letter? Would you be shocked to learn they never showed it to us before publishing it? Does anyone honestly believe this sounds like Donald Trump?"
The Wall Street Journal also reached out to the Justice Department to get a comment, but officials did not respond. The FBI was contacted as well, but they refused to comment.
