Diddy's attorney reportedly pushed for leniency in his sentencing, with tears welling up in his eyes.

Defense attorney Brian Steel addressed U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian in a bid to have him return home early. As prosecutors push for an 11-year sentence at the very least, Sean Combs' attorneys have pushed for a 14-month sentence.

According to CBS News and AP, this is essentially the time he already served, which means he could be out of prison by this year. The rapper has been detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in 2024. This past July, he was convicted of two prostitution-related charges.

"I sit here with tears in my eyes, I can't believe we're here. Sean has impacted America in such a positive manner," Steel said.
"Sean's father was k*lled when he was three. [...] He works harder than anyone else. More trauma: his best friend is sh*t in LA in a drive-by sh**ting. [...] He has an operation and gets addicted to the paink*llers he's given. He has been high from then until 2024."

He continued,

"On occasion, he would hit the woman he loved. He loved Ms. Ventura. He has taken responsibility... I have been there when Sean has prayed for healing for anyone he has hurt."

Diddy sentenced to 50 months in prison

Live updates from the BBC state that Diddy has been sentenced to 50 months in prison, i.e., four years and two months. Judge Arun Subramanian said that the sentence is in proportion to the severity of the crimes he committed and their mitigating factors.

The judge also cited the "massive" mound of evidence against Diddy, including the "savage video" of the latter beating his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, at a hotel in Los Angeles in 2016.

Ahead of his sentencing, Diddy addressed the court. He pledged that he won't let the judge down if he were to be given another chance, noting that he wouldn't risk being away from his family again.

"That’s my deterrence," he said.
"I ask your honour for mercy. I beg your honour for mercy.
"I don’t have nobody to blame but myself. I know that I’ve learned my lesson." he added

Diddy also apologized to Cassie, his family, and another ex-girlfriend, "Jane."

"I didn’t mean to hurt you, I’m sorry for dragging you into this mess. My actions were disgusting, shameful, and sick. I got lost in excess, I got lost in my ego."
