On December 5, Elon Musk reshared a post on X that claimed population decline is the greatest threat to humanity. The Tesla mogul has been vocal about population decline and keeps putting forward his thoughts on the matter.

To the latest reshared post, Elon Musk added a caption urging an immediate increase in the birth rate.

“An immediate increase in the birth rate is needed” Musk wrote.

The post reshared by Musk showed a graph of falling birth rate, hinting at it as a threat to civilization.

“Birth rates are plummeting in a lot of countries. Population collapse is the greatest threat to civilization. Change needs to happen to save humanity.”

Most recently, on December 1, Elon Musk appeared on Indian billionaire Nikhil Kamath’s podcast. In his two-hour-long conversation, the world’s richest man also touched upon having family and kids. Musk said that

“I mean, I do worry about the population decline. This is a big, big problem.”

He commented that humanity will disappear if population rate keeps on dropping. Elon Musk said that fewer humans are worse.

“Well, I don't want humanity to disappear. But a "decline" and "disappear" are completely different things, right? Well, if the trend continues, we disappear. But also, going back to my philosophy, if you will, which is that if we want to expand consciousness, then fewer humans is worse, because we have less consciousness.”

As stated by Musk, more population is needed for more consciousness. He went on to add that with more population it becomes easier to understand the nature of universe.

“Yes. I mean, just like consciousness increases from a single-celled creature to, you know, a 30 trillion-celled creature. We're more conscious than a bacteria. At least, it seems that way. So, a larger human population will have increased consciousness. We're more likely to understand the answers to the nature of the universe if we have a lot more people than if we have fewer.”

Further, the host also asked Elon Musk, the best part of having children. He said:

"Well, I mean, you've got this... I mean, you've got this little creature that loves you, and you love this little creature. I don't know, you kind of see the world through their eyes as they... you know, as they grow up, and their conscious awareness increases."

For those unaware, Musk has fourteen known children.
