Indian actress Deepika Padukone joins Meta Al as its new voice for users in US & 5 other countries

Indian actress Deepika Padukone is set to become the latest personality to join Meta AI as its newest voice. According to reports, the award-winning actress is the first Indian celebrity to lend her voice to Meta's virtual assistant, which can be heard across six countries, including the US.

The announcement regarding this was made by Deepika Padukone and Meta in a joint statement on Instagram, writing:

"Okay, so this is pretty cool, I think! I’m now part of Meta AI and you can chat with my voice in English across India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Try it and let me know what you think!"

Deepika Padukone, who was previously named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME in 2018, appeared in the 2017 film "XXX: Return of Xander Cage" as Serena Unger opposite Vin Diesel. According to Vogue India, Padukone has attended the Met Gala several times over the years, with her last appearance being in 2019

According to reports, Deepika Padukone's voice can now be heard not just in the US but also in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and India. Users can interact with her voice as she joins a long of global celebrities who have been roped in by Meta for this new initiative. A part of the official statement released by Meta read:

"You’ll also have the option to select from a variety of assistant voices – including a special AI voice of Deepika Padukone (available in IN-EN). She joins Meta AI’s global lineup of voices for the assistant, including many recognizable celebrity voices to choose from."

Back in April, Meta had announced the launch of its new Meta AI app, allowing people across the world to seamlessly chat with their preferred AI voice assistant. At the same time, Meta also introduced an updated version of its AI chat model, with Llama 4, designed to make conversations with your chosen AI voice feel more personal. A part of the official announcement from Meta's website, read:

"We’re launching a new Meta AI app built with Llama 4, a first step toward building a more personal AI. People around the world use Meta AI daily across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger. And now, people can choose to experience a personal AI designed around voice conversations with Meta AI inside a standalone app. This release is the first version, and we’re excited to get this in people’s hands and gather their feedback."

According to CBS News, Indian actress Deepika Padukone now joins the long list of other stalwarts such as Judi Dench, Kristen Bell, Awkwafina, and John Cena as one of the official voices of Meta AI.
