Spencer Pratt is a reality television star who rose to prominence on MTV’s The Hills. He has made several appearances on reality shows in the time since, including Celebrity Big Brother UK, Marriage Boot Camp and most recently on The Hills: New Beginnings.

In the most recent news about the reality star, Spencer Pratt has announced his candidacy for mayor of Los Angeles, vowing to "expose the system." As per BBC, he declared his campaign officially at a 'They Let Us Burn' rally organised by residents who lost houses in the Palisades Fire. His words at the event were pointed and deliberate:

"Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles," he told Wednesday's demonstration, "and I'm done waiting for someone to take real action. That's why I am running for mayor.”

He added:

"But let me be clear, this just isn't a campaign. This is a mission, and we are going to expose the system. We are going into every dark corner of LA politics and disinfecting the city with our light."

Interestingly, when the news of his candidacy broke online, a viral question began to trend: 'Is Spencer Pratt related to Chris Pratt?' While the pair have crossed paths before and made jokes about a shared lineage, the truth is that they are not in fact relatives, but simply share the same surname.

Spencer Pratt escalates feud with California Governor Gavin Newsom

In other news, Spencer Pratt has been in an escalating war of words and social media posts with California Governor Gavin Newsom. The conflict between the two men stems from Pratt’s belief that Newsom has lacked accountability and transparency regarding his regime’s handling of the devastating L.A. wildfires in January 2025.

In his most recent Instagram post, Pratt openly questions a message sent to him personally by Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary Gavin Deeb. His caption reads:

“Who actually believes that Governor Gavin Newsom has NO records responsive to this request for text messages regarding the Palisades between January 6 and 9, 2025???”

The back-and-forth between the two men dates back even further to July 2025, when Spencer Pratt was vocal in his disdain for Newsom in response to a canceled ordinance. The would-be legislation was aimed at helping families in need to build low-income properties on burned land in the Palisades.
