"It brought so much hope and light": Rei Ami reflects on the lasting impact of 'KPop Demon Hunters'

At Heidi Klum’s Halloween bash, Rei Ami proved she’s her own best cosplay. But when it comes to a KPop Demon Hunters sequel, the star admits she’s on standby like the rest of us.

The 30-year-old turned heads at the German-American actress' annual Halloween shindig on Oct. 31 as she dressed up as Zoey, the very character from KPDH with whom she lent her voice.

The celebrity showed up on the red carpet in Zoey's signature turquoise-blue cropped top with a halter-style neckline, which she paired with high-waisted, loose-fitting deep blue pants with neon yellow and teal patches.

The most notable aspect of Rei Ami's overall look was her bubbly image, similar to the character, as well as her twin low buns.

Speaking with E! News after her red-carpet moment, the voice actress reacted to the omnipresence of KPop Demon Hunters-inspired Halloween costumes.

"Oh my god, it's everywhere, I can't get a break from it. And I'm not complaining, please!"

Nonetheless, Rei Ami clarified that she has no qualms about it and the animated movie's impact.

"Oh, absolutely! And I'm not complaining, please. I want to see more. It is the cutest little thing ever seeing these kids light up. I saw a little TikTok earlier about a mom struggling with Rumi's bubble braid."

The breakout star also hinted at the possibility of a K-pop Demon Hunters sequel, saying:

"I'm waiting for the call, just like you! You're gonna find out when I do, so we'll chat then."

Rei Ami "honored and humbled" by KPop Demon Hunters' success

Rei Ami also revealed to the outlet the inspiration for her Halloween outfit, showing off the intricate details of her Zoey-inspired costume. It took her three hours to get ready, and overall, 36 hours after she "put my tailor through it."

"This outfit is the first outfit Zoey wears in the film. This is when she jumps out of the plane for the song 'How It's Done.' Lots of details. We have the norigae, which is a traditional Korean accessory. We have the sea turtle. We have the embroidery — the hibiscus flower, which is the national flower of Korea."

Rei Ami did a quick twirl and also flaunted her sparkly pink nails. When asked about how she comes to grips with the magnitude of KPop Demon Hunters' success, she answered that she can't.

"This is a cultural phenomenon. The records, the headlines — absolutely unprecedented. So honored, and I think I'm just truly humbled by the power of music and good art, and how we can truly, sounds so cliche but like, change the world. And I think that that's exactly what this film and the soundtracks did."

She continued:

"It brought so much hope and light in such a dim, grim world. I'm so absolutely honored and privileged to be part of it."

Before concluding the chat, the reporter asked Rei Ami what her goal for next year is, and the voice actress playfully replied while looking straight at the camera:

"World domination!"
