Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, was reportedly denied entry into the courtroom as he showed up to Diddy's ongoing federal sex trafficking case on Friday as a show of support.
The Gold Digger rapper was spotted walking into the federal courthouse in Lower Manhattan on June 13, clad in an all-white ensemble. Flanked by a security guard, he greeted Sean Combs' son, Christian. His wife, Bianca Censori, was also present as she sported a black leather ensemble and had on a brown wig.
People Magazine has reported that the pair were denied entry into the courtroom and were instead redirected by court officers to a second overflow room on the 23rd floor. There, they were allowed to witness the trial via a monitor that had a live feed. Christian and Ye's bodyguard were also present with the rapper. Per the outlet, Ye stayed for about 30 minutes before he left.
Kanye West and Diddy's relationship as the former doubles down on his support for his friend:
A source told Business Insider that Kanye West was denied entry because his name was not on the list of approved family members or friends.
"He did not wait in line like everybody else from the public," the source said. "No one gets special treatment."
The outlet reports that Ye got to witness Jonathan Perez's testimony. Perez served as a former personal assistant to the Bad Boy Records founder. Several outlets have also reported that as he exited the courtroom, when asked if he was there to support the fellow disgraced musician, he replied curtly, "yes," before he entered into a black Mercedes sedan and took off.
Kanye West, a controversial figure in his own right, has been one of the few celebrities to voice his support for Combs, whose criminal trial enters its fifth week. The latter is currently facing charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
His trial has seen testimonies from the likes of Cassie Ventura, his former girlfriend, Kid Cudi, legally known as Scott Mescudi, and more. Diddy has categorically maintained his innocence as he pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, he is looking at life behind bars.
Business Insider has reported that the prosecution will be resting its case by next week, allowing for Combs' defense to present their side to the jury, which comprises eight men and four women.
As for Kanye West, he has been embroiled in intense controversies online, mainly due to his inflammatory string of tweets that saw him voice his support for Hitler, express antisemitism, and more. He doubled down on his antics by dropping a song called Heil Hitler.
Back in 2022, he presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Combs at the BET Awards. At the time, he credited his friend for many of his life choices:
"I go to him for advice to this day. He inspires so many of my choices, so many of my life choices," he said at the time.
This past February, Kanye West voiced his support for his friend yet again in another antisemitic tirade on X, where he called for Diddy to be released. The latter was being detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He was denied bail several times since his arrest in September.
