Johnny Somali is currently stuck in South Korea after five different charges that were pressed against the streamer. Somali has always been a controversial character, however, his antics in South Korea last year left him facing legal trouble that has impacted his ability to leave the country. Many may not know this, but it recently came to light that last year in October, Somali was attacked by a Korean Navy SEAL YouTuber.
Going back to last year, Dalgeun Yu, who is a YouTuber and a former Underwater Demolition Team/SEAL soldier, felt that it was up to him to deal with Johnny Somali's actions. In the clip, Dalgeun was seen following the streamer outside his residence in South Korea. The Navy SEAL soldier threw a single punch at Johnny, which floored him.
Later on, Dalgeun Yu posted on Instagram without any remorse, saying:
"I just did what I had to do as a Korean citizen."
Six months later, Dalgeun is facing the consequences of his actions. The NAVY YouTuber is facing a potential fine of $7,000.
How much did Johnny Somali's attacker get fined?
Dalgeun Yu, the NAVY YouTuber who attacked Johnny Somali outside his South Korean residence, was subjected to a fine for his actions. The Korean soldier has had a chat with another YouTuber who goes by the name Legal Mindset. During the conversation, Yu revealed that he was fined 1.5 million Won, which is roughly more than $1,000.
However, he estimates that the fine will actually go up to 10,000 million Won, which equals around $7,000. Yu has requested his followers' help to pay off these fines by asking them to send the money to his PayPal account.
After Dexerto tweeted about Dalgeun's fines, former police officer and American influencer and YouTuber, Cody ‘Donut Operator’ Garrett, offered to help with the fines for the Korean Navy SEAL. Garrett only sent Yu $4,000 since the rest of the amount had already been covered by his followers.
Dalguen will not be facing any jail time for his assault. All he has to do is pay the fines. However, the victim in this case (Somali) is not innocent and will be undergoing trial for the numerous charges he has been filed with during his South Korea visit.
Johnny Somali is still in South Korea and can only go back to the US after all legal proceedings are completed. He was supposed to be on trial on April 9, 2025, however, it has been postponed to May 16, 2025, after his lawyer requested for it.
