Lil Nas X appeared in court this week, days after he was released from an inpatient treatment program. The Grammy winner, also known as Montero Lamar Hill, 26, reportedly showed up at court in L.A. on Monday, November 17, with a smile on his face. Rolling Stone has confirmed that a judge signed off on a protective order that covers the transfer of discovery in his case. His appearance marks his first time in court since he completed the program following his arrest on August 21. At the time, he allegedly assaulted an officer under the influence of substances. "As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great, and we’re super happy for him,” Lil Nas X's attorney Drew Findling told reporters following the hearing, per Rolling Stone. The developments in Lil Nas X's legal troubles explored: The Guardian has reported that, during the Monday hearing, Lil Nas X's attorneys told L.A. County Judge Shellie Samuels that he was receiving inpatient treatment out of state. “Defendant is allowed to remain out of state as long as he remains in treatment,” Samuels said. His legal team also gave an update on his development following the hearing, telling the Rolling Stone that “we’re addressing those issues” and “this is a bump that he’s going to get over”.“We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being,” attorney Drew Findling said. “He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. We’re just addressing those issues. It’s really as simple as that. He’s had a great life, he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s gonna get over. And on behalf of him, his family is making sure he addresses all those issues right now.” However, Lil Nas X's lawyers did not further clarify about his treatment. The rapper was charged with battery and resisting a law enforcement officer back in August, and was let go just last month after he posted the $75,000 bail. At the time, he told his Instagram followers on his Story, “Your girl is gonna be OK. She’s going to be alright. Sh*t, that was f*cking terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.” The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the singer's next court date is scheduled for November 18.
