Lil Nas X made an iconic appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Rapper and singer Lil Nas X made an appearance on "The Jennifer Hudson Show", hosted by EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson. The Industry Baby singer did the iconic walk through called the Spirit Tunnel, which in the past has featured viral walks by Shemar Moore from SWAT, Angela Bassett from 911, Michelle Obama, and Chris Perfetti from Abbott Elementary.
Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, did his Spirit Tunnel walk in his bubbly, cheerful way, dressed in a pink and red striped sweater with a white collar, and embellished jeans. Something that started as a mini ritual for Jennifer herself, the Spirit Tunnel has become quite an integral part of the show, and has been credited for its success as well, to some extent.
Talking about its start, Jennifer said, “I would come in with a boom box like, ‘We need to wake this place up.’ Then, all of a sudden, I would come out the door and they’re all lined up singing. I said we need to show this to the world so people can understand the energy that the spirit tunnel holds and the Happy Place.”
At the actual show, Lil Nas X talked about his MET Gala look from 2 years ago, with Hudson. He expressed embarrassment but no regrets about his all-silver, encrusted look.
He expressed, “There are definitely moments where I’m just like, ‘OK, I love that I did that; I don’t want to see it ever again,” He further explained, "The one from the Met Gala like two years ago where I’m, like, kind of naked and covered in crystals."
Nas expressed, “I cannot explain to you how it feels walking up to Bad Bunny, like, ‘Hi Bad Bunny’ and just talking, and then walking away knowing that he’s seeing your ass covered in crystals,”
The rapper was quite amused, revealing this anecdote,
“I don’t regret it. I don’t regret it, I don’t want you to think that. But it was like, ‘I want to get out of my comfort zone, I want to feel good about my body,’ and I just wanted to step out there. And then just looking back, going, ‘Damn, everybody saw my ass covered in, like, silver crystals…”
Hudson retorted “Well it was a good ass!”
To which Lil Nas replied, “Yeah, I love it! One of my favorite asses: mine.”
Lil Nas X further talked about his new single “Hotbox,” teasing his upcoming album Dreamboy and expressing unlocking his “feminine energy.”
