Candace Owens has established herself as one of the most polarizing political commentators in the landscape of modern media. Her incendiary takes have caused tremendous amounts of backlash, and she continues to double down on her beliefs. This includes her assertion that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman who was born a man.In the most recent news on the topic, fellow media personality Piers Morgan recently weighed in on X after a January 6th court ruling declared that 10 people were convicted of online harassment of French first lady Brigitte Macron. Morgan reposted an article from The New York Times announcing the results of Macron’s case and targeted Owens directly in his message,“Oh-oh @RealCandaceO.. looks like you owe me $300k.”As per France Info, the defendants in the case were handed sentences of up to eight months with suspended jail time. Prior to the court rendering its final verdict, Brigitte Macron made the following comments on TF1 on Sunday, January 4,“A birth certificate is not nothing. It is a father or a mother who goes to declare their child, who says who he is or who she is,” she said. “I want to help adolescents to fight against harassment, and if I do not set an example, it will be difficult.”It is noteworthy that the Macron family is pursuing a separate high-profile defamation case in the United States, with Candace Owens being at the center of the lawsuit.Candace Owens on Brigitte MacronCandace Owens’ claims about Brigitte Macron originate back to a video she released on her platform in March 2024. In the video, Owens went as far as saying that she would “stake [her] entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man.” Since this point in time, Owens has not backed down, leaning even further into this seemingly preposterous narrative. In response, the Macrons filed a defamation suit in Delaware against Candace Owens, calling for retractions of these damaging claims. The Macron family eventually made an official statement, which reads as follows,“These outlandish, defamatory, and far-fetched fictions included that Mrs Macron was born a man, stole another person’s identity, and transitioned to become Brigitte; Mrs Macron and President Macron are blood relatives committing incest; President Macron was chosen to be the President of France as part of the CIA-operated MKUltra program or a similar mind-control program; and Mrs Macron and President Macron are committing forgery, fraud, and abuses of power to conceal these secrets.”It went on to add,“Because Ms Owens systematically reaffirmed these falsehoods in response to each of our attorneys’ repeated requests for a retraction, we ultimately concluded that referring the matter to a court of law was the only remaining avenue. Ms Owens’ campaign of defamation was plainly designed to harass and cause pain to us and our families and to garner attention and notoriety. We gave her every opportunity to back away from these claims, but she refused. It is our earnest hope that this lawsuit will set the record straight and end this campaign of defamation once and for all.”While it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds in court, it seems that Candace Owens will ultimately be held accountable for the harm caused to the Macron family from her unsubstantiated claims.
