X, formerly Twitter, unveils a new display for "view quotes," which leaves the internet divided, as some say:
It "looks tacky and unwanted."
X, formerly and commonly known as Twitter, has come out and created a new display for “view quotes”, wherein you can now see a new “View quotes” in the expanded post view in the app. This quicklink has enabled users to have another way to view expanded interaction with X posts and essentially gives you another way to check out how a post is being discussed by other users besides the direct replies, instead of having to tap the re-post icon itself.
This was first introduced in batches a few days back, and now more and more people are reporting the change after updating their apps. Though it is not quite a major change or development, Twitter’s recently appointed head of product, Nikita Bier, has said that this new entry point will help in surfacing "some of the best content” in the app.
Nikita has taken the point lead in uncovering and introducing new ways to encourage engagement in the app.
Internet reacts to the Twitter update
X users seemed to have mixed reactions to the new update. While most are against it, stating that it is like fixing a problem that didn't exist, there are a few who don't quite seem to mind it. There are also a few netizens who went a step ahead and suggested their own changes for the social networking site.
One questioned X's AI assistant on its purpose, "@grok what does this enable? And do you see this improving engagement, or just a quality of life improvement?"
Another exclaimed, "Did anyone ask them for this? There a lot of things they can literally make better"
One user suggested, "X should introduce more reaction options to a tweet not just like"
While another joked, "Elon really said ‘what if we fixed something that wasn’t broken… again.’"
A user stated how they seemed to easily adjust, "I was shocked just now when I was trying to retweet a post lol. It’s actually doesn’t feel bad and I guess we will all adapt"
And another supported, "Nice update makes it a lot easier to track conversations and see different perspectives in one place."
