Los Angeles selects Snoop Dogg as Community Chairman for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Snoop Dogg has officially been selected as the Community Chairman for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Host Committee by the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission. The news was announced on Instagram by the FIFA World Cup 26 Los Angeles page, where they wrote:

"Welcome @snoopdogg! A global icon and true LA legend, Snoop is joining our team as the official Community Chairman as we prepare to welcome the world for FIFA World Cup 26™ next summer! 🙌⚽"

As per the press release, the rapper will be:

"working alongside the team to engage the local community to help deliver a legacy that will positively impact the Los Angeles region well beyond the final match."

Adding to their statement, they wrote:

"Snoop will serve as one of the main representatives for the Host Committee’s community engagement and legacy programs, attend key events and help encourage the global fans to start their World Cup experience right here in Los Angeles."

Los Angeles will host eight games at SoFi Stadium and 39 days of fan events, with Snoop Dogg as Community Chairman. Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. will lead the Community Ambassador Program, encouraging locals to join the 2026 World Cup events, as per the press.

Dogg, sharing his gratitude, said in the press release:

"It's an honor to step up as the Community Chairman for the City of Angels as we get ready for the biggest game on the planet. We're going to bring the world together, West Coast style - unity, respect and a whole lotta love for the beautiful game. LA, let's make history in 2026!"

Welcoming the rapper, Kathryn Schloessman, head of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission and the 2026 World Cup Host Committee, said in the press:

"Snoop Dogg is more than a global icon. He embodies all that is Los Angeles and his deep roots in the community and passion for uplifting the next generation make him the perfect ambassador as we prepare to welcome the world in 2026. We’re honored to welcome him as our Community Chairman"

The press release noted that he was chosen as Community Chairman for his strong ties to Los Angeles, his influence in music and culture, and his work supporting youth sports.
