Megan Thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete) and her management company, ROC Nation, have been named in a lawsuit filed by her former cameraman, Emilio Garcia.

According to a report in Billboard, United States District Judge Gregory H. Woods issued his conclusion on July 2, 2025, regarding whether Garcia's lawsuit should be allowed in the court. He stated that her former employee has provided sufficient evidence to move forward with his significant discrimination and retaliation lawsuit, filed last spring against the rapper.

The order also declines Garcia’s retaliation claims against Megan and Roc Nation, per the report. He alleged that his pay and hour rates were deducted after he complained about the incident. He also claimed that he was later fired by the rapper and blacklisted from working elsewhere in the industry.

On the other hand, Megan Thee Stallion and her company have denied any such conduct, calling Garcia a “con artist,” per Billboard.

What else do we know about the lawsuit?

What did the lawsuit filed by Emilio Garcia, Megan Thee Stallion's former cameraman, state?

Emilio Garcia, who previously worked with Megan Thee Stallion, filed the lawsuit in April 2024 in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. In his complaint, he stated that the Houston rapper allegedly engaged in s*xual contact with a woman inside a moving vehicle in Spain in 2022, while the cameraman was trapped inside with her. He claimed that he was subjected to s*xual harassment and fat-shaming comments, per USA Today.

According to the outlet, Garcia worked as Stallion's cameraman from 2018 to 2023. He said in his lawsuit that the rapper warned him with

“don’t ever discuss what you saw,” and was berated, fat-shamed, and treated differently by her.

The suit added that “harassment was so severe or pervasive” that it created a “hostile, abusive work environment” that made Garcia’s “working conditions intolerable.”

However, Stallion’s attorney Alex Spiro said:

"This is an employment claim for money — with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her. We will deal with this in court.”

The latest development in the case stated that Judge Woods has allowed the main hostile work environment claim centered around the incident to move forward. Billboard reported that Woods said that the plaintiff:

“plausibly pleads that the alleged se*ual encounter in the SUV in Ibiza created a hostile work environment based on plaintiff’s sexual orientation.”

He added:

“Plaintiff asks the court to draw the inference that ‘Pete would not have engaged in group se* with other women in front of a heterosexual male’; that ‘Pete felt comfortable engaging in group se*iwith other women in front of plaintiff because of plaintiff’s sexuality and gender.’”
“This is not an unreasonable inference to draw from the facts alleged. Therefore, plaintiff has plausibly pleaded that he experienced the alleged inferior conditions of his employment on account of his sexual orientation.”

Garcia’s attorney, Ron Zambrano, told Billboard:

"We have plenty of facts after fourteen depositions we’ve taken to get the facts in we need. I’m sure."

There has been no comment from ROC Nation or Megan Thee Stallion yet.
