The trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs continues in a New York court. On Day 9, rapper Kid Cudi spoke about a scary event, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He said he thinks Combs sent someone who broke into his house and set fire to his car after finding out Cudi was dating singer Cassie.
Last week, Cassie talked for four days about the violence she endured while she was in a relationship with Diddy. She said Combs forced her to take part in “freak-offs.” These were parties with sex workers at hotels.
Kid Cudi was one of several witnesses on Thursday. Others included George Kaplan, Combs’s former assistant. Kaplan said he quit his job after seeing Combs attack Cassie and another woman. As per the reports, Cassie's makeup artist, Mylah Morales, has also testified.
However, Diddy denies all charges. He says he never forced anyone to do anything. He calls the parties “freak-offs” consensual. The trial will last about eight weeks. The judge told jurors not to talk about the case over the long holiday weekend. He said they cannot search the internet or talk to anyone about the trial.
Kid Cudi’s Testimony About Diddy's Break-In and Car Fire
Kid Cudi said he and Cassie dated for a short time in 2011. He took Cassie to a hotel to get away from Diddy. Cudi said Diddy's assistant called him to say Diddy and someone else were inside his home. Cudi called Combs on the way home and asked why he was there. But when Cudi got home, Diddy was gone. Kid Cudi found his Christmas presents opened and his dog locked in a bathroom.
Weeks later, Cudi’s Porsche was set on fire in his driveway. His dog sitter called to tell him. A hole was cut in the car’s roof. A Molotov cocktail was found inside. Cassie said Combs threatened to blow up Cudi’s car after learning about their relationship. Cudi met Diddy the day after the fire to try to fix things, but Diddy denied starting the fire. Cudi said he had no other problems with anyone else at the time. He said,
"Sean Combs was standing there with his hands behind his back like a Marvel supervillain."
Years later, Combs said sorry to Cudi when they met again. Cudi left the court quickly after testifying.
