The Associated Press has reported that the Epstein Files have disappeared from the Department of Justice’s website. According to the outlet, at least 16 files have disappeared from the public webpage, including one photo showing President Donald Trump. The move comes a day after they went public, and the government and the Justice Department have yet to address this move. These missing files reportedly included several images of paintings of nude women, and one of a string of photographs inside drawers. In one of these pictures, the incumbent president can be seen posing alongside Epstein, Melania Trump, and Ghislaine Maxwell. The controversy surrounding the Epstein files and Trump's alleged affiliation explored: CBS News reported earlier today that the Epstein Files Transparency Act mandated that the Justice Department release all files relating to the late convicted human trafficker by Friday, with the exception of information relating to survivors and other niche categories. However, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said that the "volume of materials" means the files must be released "on a rolling basis." A file that was released on Friday confirmed that a woman reported Epstein to the FBI back in 1996, marking over 2 decades before he was hit with federal charges. In the handwritten complaint, which was categorized as a child pornography case, the woman accused the late mogul of stealing photos she had taken of her juvenile sisters for her own art, claiming it "is believed to have sold the pictures to potential buyers. Epstein is now threatening [the accuser] that if she tells anyone about the photos he will burn her house down," the complaint said. Despite thousands of new records being released over the weekend, about 550 pages were redacted, CBS News has reported. This includes three consecutive documents with 255 pages in total. Another 119-page document, titled "Grand Jury-NY," was also redacted. The Justice Department issued a statement on X on Friday confirming that they did not redact the names of any politicians: "The Justice Department is not redacting the names of any politicians. As @DAGToddBlanche made clear: “The only redactions being applied to the documents are those required by law — full stop. Consistent with the statute and applicable laws, we are not redacting the names of individuals or politicians unless they are a victim.”" The Associated Press has reported that the records "hardly reference" prolific figures who have long been tied to the late mogul, including Britain’s former Prince Andrew. So far, the release has showcased images of his homes in New York City and the U.S. Virgin Islands, alongside some photos of celebrities and politicians. Stay tuned to SoapCentral for more.
