"Nah man": Fans upset as Jon B claims Chris Brown "can sing better" than Michael Jackson

Jon B, known for his song They Don’t Know, told Hot 97 that he believes Chris Brown is a better singer than Michael Jackson.

"(Brown) is absolutely the most talented. He elevated what Michael started. He can sing better than Michael Jackson - the runs and the melodies - all the things he can do with his voice. He can sing better in the sense that Michael didn't do those things ."

He then went on to add,

"There were some runs MJ did back in the day, but in terms of vocal dexterity and being ableto do more with his voice, I'll give Chris that. He's ascended the style (of Michael)."

Jackson’s fans reacted negatively after Jon B’s comments went viral on social media. Many took to World Star Hip Hop’s repost to argue that Jon B is not the right person to judge the King of Pop.

A user (@RoninObsidian) disagreed with John B's statement and said,

"Nah man"

Another user (@BkszRisk_456) pointed out that Jon B is a “one-hit wonder” with his song They Don’t Know:

"This is an opinion from someone that has a one hit wonder! Respectfully lol"

Another user (@TheEwokSmurf) wondered if Jon B’s comments are a tactic to get Chris Brown’s streams up:

"Is this the new tactic to get their streams up?"

Another user (@AWAXDEM) wondered why Brown doesn’t acknowledge the comparisons:

"Why does Chris Brown keeps silence about these dumb comparisons?"

Another user (@wiz_walt) claimed that Jon B does not have the right judgment of artists’ careers:

"jon b doesnt know what talent is ... look at his career"

Tank says Chris Brown has "more gifts" than Michael Jackson

Jon B’s comparison of Chris Brown to Michael Jackson is not the first time the two artists have been contrasted in public debates.

In 2022, Maybe I Deserve singer Tank, while agreeing with an X user, said Brown was a better artist:

"I've been the only one saying this and I've felt alone for so long. Singer, dancer, writer, producer, actor, painter, clothing designer, gymnast, ninja, etc! MJ is the greatest but CB has more gifts is all we're saying."

Tank argued that Chris Brown surpasses Michael Jackson in singing, songwriting, producing, and dancing.
