Donald Trump, who broke away from tradition and hosted the Kennedy Center Honors, becoming the first President to do so, was seen dancing to Y.M.C.A., which was performed at the World Cup draw ceremony at the Kennedy Center last week, on Friday, December 5. According to The Athletic by The New York Times, it was not just Donald Trump who was seen moving to the tunes of the popular song, but also Elon Musk, who also attended the event and was seen busting a move in the viral clip. Following this, it was Nicki Minaj, who took to X (formerly Twitter) penning down a short response to the video. She wrote:

"Mood."

On Sunday December 7, Donald Trump was seen walking the red carpet alongside Melania Trump at the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, which saw performances by country musicians Miranda Lambert, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, and featured tribute by actor Kurt Russell. According to The Guardian, this year's recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors include the likes of Gloria Gaynor, Sylvester Stallone, George Strait, Michael Crawford and Gene Simmons, who along with other members of the rock band KISS were given the award. While hosting the ceremony, Donald Trump said:

"This is the greatest evening in the history of the Kennedy Center – not even a contest. There has never been anything like it and the show is already getting rave reviews. Now, I will say that I guarantee the fake news is going to give me horrible – ‘He was horrible as an emcee. Don’t ever let that happen again!’ But I guarantee one thing: we’re going get big ratings today. This place is hot.”

The 2026 World Cup draw ceremony which was held last week on Friday, December 5, was specially organized at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. It was co-hosted by Danny Ramirez, Kevin Hart, Heidi Klum, and featured performances by Andrea Bocelli, among others. According to Reuters, Donald Trump, who was seen dancing to the popular song Y.M.C.A by the Village People, was awarded the first edition of the Peace Prize "in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world,” by the FIFA in a highly controversial move.

In his acceptance speech, the President expressed that this award was as “one of the great honours" of his life and claimed to have allegedly “saved millions and millions of lives" He said:

"The Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly. India and Pakistan, so many different wars we were able to end, in some cases just before they started.”

Following this award ceremony, during the much-anticipated performance of Y.M.C.A, which was originally released back in 1978 by Village People, both the President and Elon Musk were seen trying to imitate the famous steps of the iconic song. According to The New York Times, this is not the first time that Y.M.C.A has been performed at an event involving Donald Trump. Previously, this song was heard at rallies in the run-up to the 2025 Presidential Election.
