Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are currently in the midst of a press tour for their upcoming film Wicked: For Good. During their press run for the sequel to last year’s Wicked, the pair have fielded all sorts of questions, though one has been bubbling beneath the surface: The true nature of their relationship.

As the speculation about the two being romantically linked continues to grow, users have taken to social media using short-form clips to attempt to build a narrative. It seems the latest social media influencer to weigh in on their relationship is Melanie King, who posted the following message on X on November 20:

“Ariana Grande was a Nickelodeon kid. No one can tell me this is normal.”

The controversial King accompanied her message with a reposted video that points to alleged irregularities in Erivo’s demeanour towards Grande during their interactions. The video even seems to insinuate that Ariana Grande is somehow being victimized.

King’s tweet about Ariana Grande is purely speculative, though it seems the chatter will only amplify until the stars address it directly.

Ariana Grande’s bumpy Wicked: For Good press tour

While Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s Wicked: For Good is expected to be met with high praise upon its release, their press run for the film has been somewhat of a rollercoaster. This started when Grande was unable to make the film’s São Paulo, Brazil, premiere on November 4 due to issues with her plane.

Then, at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good, things went from bad to worse for the pop icon, who was accosted by a fan as she walked down the yellow carpet with her co-stars. The man was seen jumping over a barrier before approaching Ariana Grande and attempting to hug her.

Cynthia Erivo intervened and held the crazed fan at bay, but the entire experience was unexpected and jarring for Grande, who seemed extremely disturbed by the incident.

Most recently, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo opted out of participating in interviews at the New York City premiere of Wicked: For Good on November 17. As per Variety, Universal reps released the following message to the press regarding their absence on the red carpet:

“Cynthia is not feeling well and has lost her voice, therefore she and Ariana will not be doing interviews this evening.”

Grande reportedly chose to skip the interviews in a move intended to show her solidarity with her co-star.
