Andy Byron has officially stepped down as CEO of Astronomer.
The resignation follows a viral incident at a Coldplay concert, where Andy Byron was captured on a kiss cam embracing his company's Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot. The moment has since fueled widespread social media discussion.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. It caught the attention of thousands of concertgoers and millions online, after Coldplay frontman Chris Martin jokingly reacted to the couple's visible discomfort on the stadium's kiss cam, stating:
"Either they are having an affair or they are very shy."
The camera showed Andy Byron with his arms around Cabot. When the duo realized they were being broadcast on the jumbotron, Byron quickly ducked out of view while Cabot turned away and covered her face.
Both Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot are reportedly married to other people.
Company response and resignation
Astronomer is a New York-based tech firm. On Friday, the company placed both Byron and Cabot on administrative leave and launched an internal review. A day later, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Byron submitted his resignation, which the board of directors accepted.
The company said in a statement,
"Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met."
Internet reactions to Andy Byron's resignation as Astronomer CEO
Pop Crave took to its official X (formerly Twitter) page to share:
"Astronomer CEO Andy Byron resigns following Coldplay Jumbotron scandal."
Netizens were quick to weigh in on the comment section of the post as they shared their reactions on the matter. Below are some of the remarks them had to make:
"Well yes. Nothing makes me happier than a man who gets his karma.", stated an X user.
"Cheating is morally wrong but hear me out, this feels like overreach. His job and his private life are separate entities and should remain as such", opined another.
"I hope he files a complaint with HR", joked a third.
Others also chimed in:
"Losing your job as head of a billion dollar company so you could take your hr lady sidechick to a coldplay concert is crazy", noted a netizen.
"I have a question: if a man divorces his wife, she may be entitled to half of his assets or alimony. But what happens if a woman (like this HR) divorces her husband? Does the husband also have to pay alimony, even if he didn’t cheat on her?", questioned another.
"When you are CEO you don't own your life. You are beholden to the shareholder. You aren't allowed a scandal. After this the people in the company would not take his leadership seriously", commented a third.
Pete DeJoy, co-founder and Chief Product Officer, has been appointed interim CEO. Astronomer has reportedly begun the search for Andy Byron's permanent replacement.
