Whoopi Goldberg "tore" up the 2025 MET Gala.
Whoopi Goldberg has finally graced the MET Gala 2025 after four years. The EGOT winner stuns in a custom Thom Browne silhouette. Donning a black top hat, the look was a beautiful blend of black and white with a floor-length black buttoned dress and a dramatic white textured coat with structured, voluminous sleeves.
For an extra touch of drama, the look was complete with silver and gold mixed-metal jewelry, including nail rings. Goldberg has often expressed her love for the brand as she attended his fashion shows during New York Fashion Week, including the fall 2023 show and earlier ones like the spring 2017 show.
The internet reacts to Whoopi Goldberg's look
Fans have been just as hyped up about her look and visible ode to the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
One fan stated, "I was wondering why they didn’t invite Erykah Badu to kill the theme but Whoopi showed up"
Another gushed, "Such an unexpected slay"
and another added to the sentiment, "Her sculpted face/that hat-a total win!"
One fan pointed out, "Nah them gold finger tips EAT!"
While one user exclaimed, "Tailored down honey!!!"
The theme reflects the history behind Black Dandyism as a fashion movement.
According to MET curator Andrew Bolton,
"Superfine: Tailoring Black Style is our department’s first exhibition devoted to menswear in more than 20 years. The show also reflects our ongoing commitment to diversifying our exhibitions in a way that is authentic to The Costume Institute. What makes it possible to translate Monica’s book, Slaves to Fashion, into an exhibition is our collection of high-style menswear, which serves as a foundation for imagining and realising this important sartorial history."
