Businessman and entrepreneur Billy McFarland posted a video on December 5, promoting the PHNX event. As per a post from November 19, the PHYNX festival was scheduled to be held from December 5 to 8. The official website, joinphnx.com, describes the festival as:

“PHNX turns Diamond Cay into the world's first interactive island festival. Whether you are on the island or watching from anywhere, you can shape what happens in real life by activating zones on the map below, including beach bars, art installations, VIP docks, helipads, and other custom builds.”

As mentioned, McFarland shared a self-recorded video on Instagram in which he thanked his friend, Adam Wetisman, for his support. Billy McFarland said:

“The Sun is starting to rise over Utila, and with one day until PHNX. I'd like to give a heartfelt thank you to my friend Adam Wetisman. Adam saw me posting about the stage sponsorship and yesterday he decided to take it. Adam sent over some pretty wild artwork. So, I just like to thank you Adam.”

He went on to say:

“Thank you for believing in redemption and for giving me a chance and thank you to everybody watching. We are one day away. We're doing everything we can to help the PHNX rise.”

Social media users did not seem too pleased by Billy McFarland’s message. According to The Mirror, many pointed out that the event was not even ready. One person joked that the best way to make an event go well was to decide everything at the last minute. Another person then asked why they didn’t just plan ahead instead of rushing right before the event.

Delving into Billy McFarland’s statement about PHNX

On November 6, Billy McFarland shared an official statement about the PHNX event. He said this would be the first island festival since the 2017 FYRE Festival. He said, despite the world asking him not to take up any such initiative, he chose not to listen. McFarland mentioned:

“Dive through the best coral reefs in the Caribbean. Hop on an ATV to lunch. Dance barefoot on a private island at sunset. Come together with 400 artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, creatives, and adventurers bold enough to make the trek to Diamond Cay and Utila. This isn't a vacation, it's a rebellion against normal.”

According to the statement, French Montana would be the main performer at the event reserved for 400 people. Other artists from different music styles would join him, including Slim Jxmmy from Rae Sremmurd, who was supposed to perform at the first Fyre Festival, along with Bobby Shmurda, MADDS, Kanykel, and Presi On. The statement posted by Billy McFarland went on:

“With only 400 physical attendees, PHNX will be broadcast globally via pay-per-view and also filmed for a forthcoming television series. Think Global Media and Hiami Films are co-producing both projects, and the entire PHNX experience is powered by Hiami.”

Billy McFarland said he wanted people attending the festival to make memories for their lifetime. He credited Hiami for making everything possible.
