Singer and actress Paris Jackson has opened up about the physical effects of drug use. US Magazine reported that she had developed a "perforated septum" and opened up about it in a video circulating on TikTok. She revealed that she had never "addressed it" before, but it can sometimes be very noticeable. She explained that she has a very "loud whistle" and others can hear when she breathes "through her nose" due to the condition.
Implying the consequences of prolonged substance use, she noted,
"It’s exactly where you think it’s from.”
Paris Jackson continued,
"Don’t do drugs kids. Or do, I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do. I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life.”

Paris Jackson talks about the shocking side effects of drug use

Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris Jackson, has opened up about developing a "perforated septum" as a consequence of prolonged drug use. She noted that she has not considered "plastic surgery" since she is marking approximately 6 years of sobriety. She explained,
"You have to take pills when you do a surgery that gnarly. And I don’t want to f**k with that.”
Paris had previously shared an intimate video (@parisjackson) of marking "5 years" of being "clean and sober" in January 2025. She expressed "gratitude" and noted,
"it’s because i’m sober that i get to smile today. i get to make music. i get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. i get to feel heartbreak in all it’s glory. i get to grieve. i get to laugh. i get to dance. i get to trust. i feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. i’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether i’m sober or not, but today i get to show up for it."
Paris Jackson added that she could have missed it "all" if she continued to struggle with her substance use. She also offered insight to others while accepting the Shining Star Award at the Friendly House Awards Luncheon in October. She revealed being associated with a "movement" that helps individuals recover from various types of addictions and said in her speech,
"Getting someone to develop conscious contact has easily been the greatest action I've ever taken and I pray that I can continue to help others."
She added,
"I didn't just get my life back. I got a better one. I say it's funny, I feel like getting sober was kind of like getting into a car accident because everything I shoved in the back seat moved forward on impact and today I'm learning to navigate life on life's terms."
Paris Jackson is close to six years of sobriety, and she has a message for those who may be battling with substance addiction. She opened up about her "perforated septum" and cautioned others to think about the consequences.
