The family of late South Korean model and TV personality Kim Jong-Seok has asked the public to “please stop speculating” about the circumstances surrounding his recent death. As false information and hurtful rumors continue to spread online, his older sister has spoken out. She said the family is grieving while also facing harmful online posts.

Kim Jong-Seok’s sudden passing shocked fans and colleagues. He was found dead earlier this week. With no official cause confirmed, online users began speculating about his private life. These claims have deeply affected and added to the family's grief.

Now, the family says they are taking legal steps to deal with the situation. They will be working with the cyber investigation unit to stop the spread of rumors and take action against those sharing false information.

Why is the family speaking out now?

The family has stayed quiet since news of Kim Jong-Seok’s death broke. But as the days passed, more and more rumors began to appear online. Many were speculative and lacked factual basis. The late model’s older sister took to social media on June 6 to address the issue.

“We are in the middle of funeral preparations, overwhelmed and heartbroken. But I’m seeing so many baseless and false claims spreading across online communities,” she wrote.

She explained that at first, the family hoped staying silent would let her brother rest peacefully. However, when the posts kept growing in number and intensity, they felt they had to speak up. The online content not only hurt the family but also disrespected Jong-Seok's memory.

“At first, we chose not to respond, hoping Jong-Seok could rest in peace. But now, it has gone too far,” she added.

What legal action does the family plan to take?

In her public post, Kim Jong-Seok’s sister said the family plans to report the harmful posts to authorities. She mentioned they will be working with the cyber investigation unit. Their goal is to identify and stop those spreading false or hurtful claims.

“We will soon release a summary of the police recording and a statement from the friend who was with him at the time,” she stated.

The family has also contacted news outlets to ask for the removal of articles they say are based on false information. They believe that some online news sources reported unconfirmed claims that fueled more speculation. She made it clear legal action would follow if those posts weren't removed.

This move shows the family’s firm decision to protect Kim Jong-Seok’s name and stop the damage being done online.
