There are new developments to Diddy's 50-month sentence. According to TMZ, POTUS Donald Trump is considering communting the infamous rapper's sentence. According to Cornell Law School's Legal Information Institute, to "commute a sentence" means:

"... the power to substitute a sentence imposed by the judiciary for a lesser sentence. In other words, it means the power to reduce or lessen a sentence resulting from a criminal conviction. For example, a ten-year sentence may be commuted to a five-year sentence."

It is one of the powers that was given to the President of the United States under the U.S. constitution.

While the exact number of the reduced sentence has not been mentioned, there is a chance that Diddy might be walking away with lesser months to serve before the end of this week.

How long has Diddy been serving in prison?

Diddy was given a 50-month sentence after he was found guilty on two charges of transportation for the purposes of prostitution. So far, the Bad Boy Records founder has served 13 months so, far, and might be out of prison in 2 years. However, as mentioned, he might not even be in prison for too long if President Trump commutes his sentence.

According to TMZ whose source is a high ranking official in the White House, they revealed that POTUS Trump is "vacillating" on commutation. While there are many who are against lessening Diddy's sentence, the source also mentioned:

"Trump will do what he wants."

Just last week, President Trump commuted former Congressman George Santos' sentence, meaning he can do the same with Diddy if he wishes to do it.

Did Diddy ask for POTUS Donald Trump's help?

According to TMZ, they revealed that right after Diddy was sentenced, his legal team immediately spoke to a high ranking official in the White House to ask for POTUS Donald Trump's help.

A few days later, President Trump told the media that he is aware of what Diddy and his legal team are asking, but did not reveal if he is going through with it or not.

Diddy has served 13 months of his 50-month prison sentence, but that could change soon. President Donald Trump is considering commuting his sentence, which would reduce his time in prison. While nothing is confirmed yet, many believe Trump's decision could come before the end of this week.
