The White House recently announced that President Donald Trump has sanctioned the renovation of the East Wing of the White House. According to People Magazine, the East Wing shall be given a golden makeover to help accommodate a ballroom that can house up to six hundred fifty people, unlike the current East Room of the White House, which houses only two hundred fifty people.

The decision for this great reconstruction, which is being undertaken by President Donald Trump, was announced on 31 July. A part of the official press release by the White House read:

"For 150 years, Presidents, Administrations, and White House Staff have longed for a large event space on the White House complex that can hold substantially more guests than currently allowed. President Donald J. Trump has expressed his commitment to solving this problem on behalf of future Administrations and the American people."

According to the approved plan by Donald Trump, the new ballroom will be ninety thousand square feet and shall retain the stylistic features of the original White House design. The press release further read:

"The White House Ballroom will be substantially separated from the main building of the White House, but at the same time, its theme and architectural heritage will be almost identical. The site of the new ballroom will be where the small, heavily changed, and reconstructed East Wing currently sits."

The statement added that despite being a historic building, the White House is unable to host larger events, a problem the current administration is now looking forward to solving. It read:

"The White House is one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in the world, yet the White House is currently unable to host major functions honouring world leaders and other countries without having to install a large and unsightly tent approximately 100 yards away from the main building entrance"

According to People Magazine, the reconstruction project, which shall cost $200 million, will be funded by several unnamed private donors, with President Donald Trump himself being one of the donors. The project shall be undertaken by McCreary Architects, a company primarily based in Washington, D.C.

This is not the first time a reconstruction project has been undertaken during the term of Donald Trump. Just last month, in June, the controversial reconstruction of the famous Rose Garden was undertaken. The garden, which was redesigned by former President John F. Kennedy in 1961, was first established by Ellen Louise Axon Wilson, the wife of the twenty-eighth president, Woodrow Wilson, in 1913.

According to People Magazine, the Rose Garden has now been replaced by a concreted surface that will make it easier for anyone to walk through the area. Moreover, the current construction of the East Wing of the White House shall begin in September of this year, but there is no official date on when the construction work shall finish.
