President Trump has doubled down on his recent streak of criticism towards female reporters with a new dig at Kaitlan Collins.

The president, 79, lashed out at CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins, 33, on his Truth Social platform on Saturday morning. In his tirade, he slammed the journalist and Chief White House Correspondent for CNN for pointing out the escalating costs of his new ballroom.

“Caitlin Collin’s of Fake News CNN, always Stupid and Nasty, asked me why the new Ballroom was costing more money than originally thought one year ago,” he penned of the host of The Source with Kaitlan Collins.

Trump's string of attacks against female reporters in recent months explored:

The Daily Beast has reported that President Trump's ballroom, which continues to expand, was expected to cost about $200 million when it was first announced. However, the budget has since ballooned to $100 million more, though the president has offered several explanations for his project.

“...it is going to be double the size, and the quality of finishes and interiors has been brought to the highest level,” he wrote, adding that it would also boast a lovely view. “It is actually under budget and ahead of schedule, as my jobs always are. It’s just much bigger and more beautiful than originally planned.”

He ended his tirade with a dig at CNN:

“FAKE NEWS CNN, and the guy who runs the whole corrupt operation that owns it, is one of the worst in the business,” he raged. “Their ratings are so low that they’re not even counted or relevant anymore. MAGA!!!”

People Magazine has reported that the White House demolished its East Wing back in October to prepare for the renovations, which has prompted backlash from lawmakers over oversight and historic protections.

As for President Trump's latest outburst, it comes amid a recent string of jibes at female reporters. Just this Thanksgiving, he dubbed a White House correspondent "stupid."

He was speaking with reporters at Mar-a-Lago at the time when he became irked at CBS News White House correspondent Nancy Cordes' questioning him about Suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal. She was asking him about the vetting procedure of the latter, who is suspected of having allegedly killed a National Guard member and injuring another.

"Your DOJ IG just reported this year that there was thorough vetting by DHS and by the FBI of these Afghans who were brought into the U.S., so why do you blame the Biden administration?” asked Cordes.

Trump quickly fired back,

“Because they let 'em in. Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person? Because they came in on a plane along with thousands of other people that shouldn’t be here, and you’re just asking questions because you’re a stupid person.”

The day before that, he dubbed The New York Times journalist Katie Rogers "ugly, both inside and out" online. His post came after the outlet published a report that drew correlations between his age and his second term as president.

The Guardian has reported that back in November, the president drew backlash when he slammed a Bloomberg News correspondent as a “piggy." At the time, Catherine Lucey, the outlet's White House correspondent, questioned Trump about the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and the possibility of all the files relating to the case being made public.

When she asked the president why he was acting the way he was “if there’s nothing incriminating in the files”, Trump pointed at her and said: “Quiet. Quiet, piggy.”
