Rockstar Games has an update regarding GTA 6.

The sequel to 2013's GTA V has officially been delayed and will now launch on May 26, 2026.

In a statement posted on its social media platforms, Rockstar Games detailed:

"Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.
"We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.
"With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.
"We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.
"Sincerely, Rockstar Games"

Fans will have to wait another full year for GTA 6. No mention of platforms or pricing was included in the update. The new timeline gives the studio another 12 months to polish the game.

Rockstar's message seemingly emphasized the need for more time to "deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

"dead a** ruined my morning," commented @wynzmanz.

Netizens react to Rockstar Games delaying GTA 6

Fans and gamers jumped into the comment section of the official post to pen their reactions. Below is how some of them reacted to GTA VI again getting officially delayed:

"So many other games will finally announce their Q3/Q4 release dates now," predicted an enthusiast.
"tariffs," poked another.
"At this point keep gta 6 we aren't hype for it anymore, you guys don't even have ur co writer at the company anymore," penned a third.
"If you are gonna delay it, at least give us some screenshots. This marketing strategy may be working for you, but it is painful for the fans," stated a fourth.
"I don't mind, finish the game. I don't want yet another game sold as an Early Access. GTA V shouldn't have even been released on the PS3 and 360. Taking too long to finish a game is only a problem when it's a development hell, like Duke Nukem Forever, the people making the game are screwing up constantly and delaying the game will not help much to make it good," penned a fifth.

With the new release date set for May 26, 2026, Rockstar has roughly a year to meet the immense expectations riding on GTA VI. Between now and then, fans can likely expect more teasers, possibly a second trailer, and hopefully some official gameplay footage.
