Russell Brand faced five charges earlier this year relating to rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault. Before the closing of 2025, Russell had been charged with two more counts of rape and assault concerning two different women. The identity of the alleged victims has not been revealed to the public.

According to the reports from the Metropolitan Police, one of the rape charges claimed that the alleged assault happened between February and March 2009. While the woman with the second charge for sexual assault claimed that it happened between August and December in the same year. Both these charges were filed by two different women.

According to the BBC, Brand has a court date set for next year. He is to appear at the Westminster Magistrates' Court on January 20, regarding the two new charges.

What were the five charges Russell Brand was charged with earlier this year?

Back in April, Russell Brand was accused of rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault. The charges claimed that all these incidents occurred between 1999 and 2005. According to the BBC, four different women have filed these charges against the actor and comedian.

On the other hand, Russell has denied these claims against him and took to social media to respond to the charges. He posted a video of himself on X with a two-word caption:

"My response."

He said in the video:

"I've always told you guys that when I was young and single, before I had my wife and family... I was a fool. I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist. I've never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes."

He continued to say:

"I'm now going to have the opportunity to defend these charges in court and I'm incredibly grateful for that."

Regarding the five charges from earlier this year, Russell Brand will have to appear at the Southwark Crown Court on June 16, next year.

Russell Brand is facing two new charges in addition to the five serious charges filed by four different women earlier this year. The alleged incidents date back several years. While he has denied all accusations, he said that he will defend himself in court in an X video he posted. Brand is scheduled to appear in court next year for all seven charges as the legal process continues.
