Actress and singer Keke Palmer served "joy and elegance" at the 2025 Met Gala.
Radiant as always, Keke Palmer was all smiles on the MET Gala 2025 blue carpet. The star was wearing a black and white Vera Wang look as an homage to Dorothy Dandridge, who "opened doors for us'. In a conversation with People, the actress stated:
"I pretty much just wanted to inhabit the tailoring, but also the history of Black culture, fashion as a tool to enter spaces that often we're not allowed. So that's why I wanted to take the inspiration of Dorothy Dandridge. All the doors that she's opened for us with fashion and beauty."
Keeping up with this year's theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," the custom ensemble featured a structured white Vera Wang gown with black tailored pants. The gown's train was magnificent enough to flow down the steps of the museum. The dress featured a halter top and a front opening to showcase the scrunched pants. She completed her look with a pair of black peep-toe heels and a feathered headpiece. The collared dress also had studded sparkling detailing that added a bit of oomph to the look.
Fans reacted to Keke Palmer's look
Keke's fans were doubling down on compliments for the actress, who was also previously one of the anchors for the gala.
One fan commented on X, echoing her own iconic words where she had referred to Megan Thee Stallion on a previous gala:
"you know it’s your girl!!!!"
Another stated:
"Wow Keke Palmer is giving bling bling she looked stunning. I think it’s one of the best outfits at the MetGala"
One user joked about her voluminous train:
"Forcing Covid protocols with her dress 'Stay back 6 ft'"
Another expressed:
"She can’t do no wrong in my eyes"
One X-user rated her look:
"Ooh my Keke Palmer!!! Best dressed female so far♥️ 9/10…."
Keke's inspiration, Dorothy Dandridge, was the first Black woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. The late actress and musician starred in the 1954 film Carmen Jones.
Keke is known for her larger-than-life personality and the very intentional way she approaches things. In an interview with Elle last March, the singer and actress stated:
“I’m every woman. I think that’s how I see myself. I’m your athletic girl. I’m your girl that is going to the ball. I’m your girl that’s going to the classroom. I’m the student, I’m the teacher, I’m the judge and the juror. I think my style is more so expressive of that, and that’s why I like to change it up, and give it a different vibe when I get the opportunity to do one of my different gigs.”
