21 Savage has shared a screenshot of his conversation with friend THF Bayzoo before the latter's death in an Instagram story.Devonshe Collier or THF Bayzoo was a rapper who was among three people who were shot in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood on October 25. 21 Savage can be seen asking the rapper to call him in the screenshot of their texts. He captioned the Instagram story with,"Sit on the phone every other night (heart-break emojis)."At around 3 pm in a parking lot on the 3100 block of South St Louis Avenue, an armed suspect approached Bayzoo and two other men aged 39 and 42. The suspect approached in an unknown vehicle and opened fire, as per ABC7 Eyewitness News. According to the news outlet, Bayzoo was shot multiple times before he was taken to Mt Sinai Hospital in a critical condition. Hours later, local WTW shared that sources near the rapper’s family had verified his passing. According to several news sources, law enforcement has confirmed there have been no arrests made yet and that the inquiry is still ongoing.Who was THF Bayzoo?THF Bayzoo was known for being part of the Chicago Drill scene. He was speculated to be associated with the rappers Lil Durk and King Von and had worked with the Only the Family (OTF) group. Chicago's drill scene is a gritty hip-hop movement that started during the early 2010s on the south side of Chicago. The culture reflects the realities of Chicago's gang conflicts and violence. The lyrics of Chicago's drill music often discuss street crime and gang life and are influenced by trap and gangsta rap.A member of the OTF collective, rapper Doodie Lo, shared a tribute in an Instagram post and said,"MY BFF MY BRUDDA MY DAWG TAUGHT ME ALOT THIS ONE HURT WOP MAN EVERYTHING KNOW OUR RELATIONSHIP I GOT YO KIDS FOR LIFE WHEN I GOT SHOT YOU JUMPED ON THE ROAD NO QUESTIONS."Following King Von's death in November 2020, Bayzoo was often seen speaking out publicly about staying connected and finding ways to survive amid gang conflicts. His death comes at a time when OTF collective member Lil Durk remains in federal custody facing murder-for-hire charges.The Grammy award winning rapper was arrested in Florida on federal charges that he reportedly paid for the attempted revenge murder of rapper Quando Rando in 2022.Durk had pleaded not guilty and is being held in police custody without bail.
