Journalist Speedy Morman took his viewers for a virtual tour of an NYC apartment. According to Complex, where he runs the 360 with Speedy Morman show, the video was posted on his TikTok.
It was reshared by the X account FearBuck on May 28, 2025. Morman said:
“…Looking at apartments in the city right now and they were like, ‘Hey! we got this two-bedroom two bath available for $7,000 a month,’ which is out of my price range but I would like to show y'all what 7,000 United States George Washington dollars gets you in the great city of New York City.”
Netizens seemed to have mixed opinions about the apartment and the price. One X user commented:
“So overpriced should be illegal.”
While some social media users discussed the rent at the NYC apartment, others noted that Speedy Morman did not show the view.
“Notice how he doesn’t show us the view lol it’s most likely because the view and the location is amazing,” a social media user commented.
“This isn’t even that bad if you think about it,” an internet user reacted.
“I’ll never understand how New Yorkers are so comfortable/conditioned to paying inflated prices for the bare minimum, it’s honestly sad,” a netizen opined.
Many X users joked about exorbitant rent, while others tried to justify it.
“NY is fire to visit but sh*t like this is why I would never move there,” an online commentator noted.
“I would have laughed at them and walked out,” another X user reacted.
“You see that light coming through the window? That’s what you’re paying for with the $7,000,” a platform user mentioned.
More about the NYC apartment and Speedy Morman’s initial struggles
In the video, Speedy Morman showed around the kitchen and then went on to show the washing machine, which he joked belonged to the Revolutionary War period. Speaking of the other rooms in the NYC apartment, he said:
“Bedrooms like good size bedroom. Bathroom, not that bad you know, nice bathroom but $7,000 a month you see.”
Back in 2024, Speedy Morman sat down with Hot 97 for an interview about his life and career. He reflected on how his journey took time and effort. He explained that in the beginning, not many people knew who he was, but over time, more people started to recognize his work.
Speedy Morman pointed out that while social media often makes success look quick, it takes years of consistent effort. He started at Complex a decade ago as an unpaid intern, and the only compensation was a monthly MetroCard.
While studying broadcast journalism at Syracuse, he interned in the editorial department but found ways to help out on the video side. He would quickly complete his editorial tasks so he could assist with mics, audio, and tripods.
Speedy Morman shared that he eventually got a shot through a screen test, which led to an offer to be a weekend anchor. However, he was about to begin his senior year of college, and school was five and a half hours away by Greyhound bus.
Even though it was a tough decision, he chose to go for it. So, every weekend during his senior year, he traveled back and forth on the Greyhound bus to make it work.
