Model and influencer Nara Smith responded to the negative comments about her hair. For context, Smith has eczema. Due to her struggle with the disease, she had to cut her hair short as the condition caused bleeding on her scalp, which eventually led to hair loss.
The model recently shared snippets of her eczema condition on her Instagram stories. The images were of her palms and her scalp. Smith wrote in one of the stories:
“So for anyone sending me hateful messages for choices I make on how I choose to wear my hair- stop making assumptions that are so outrageous when you have absolutely no idea what someone else is going through.”
Nara Smith shared that she felt emotional thinking about the silent challenges of living with eczema. She explained that it began as a small dry spot but soon spread across her hands and eventually reached her scalp. In one of the photos showing her flaky palm, she wrote:
“This is what my hands turned into and doing any task whether that was washing my curly hair or doing my skin care became hell.”
In an interview with Who What Wear in November 2024, Nara Smith stated that she believed her diet might impact her health and subsequently adjusted her eating habits. Her concern also included her partner, Lucky, and kids Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Whimsy Lou. After that, she began preparing most of their meals from scratch at home.
Nara Smith surprised her husband after she got curly hair
Nara Smith recently shared another Instagram post, showing the process of getting curly hair extensions. In the background of the video, she said that her husband wanted her to bring back her curls. Hence, she decided to surprise him with the makeover as he was out of town. She said:
“I told him I was getting my hair cut very short today and he started panicking which made the surprise even better. I haven’t worn my hair curly in about two years and chopping my hair off wasn’t a decision that I took lightly after struggling with severe eczema all over my body and scalp.”
Nara Smith mentioned that washing her hair had become a challenge, so she decided to cut and straighten it. Reflecting on that, she said it was the best decision she made for herself. After getting the extensions, she noted:
“But seeing my curly hair today made me sob in the car and I wasn’t the only one because as soon as Lucky got back, he got emotional. He couldn’t stop smiling.”
Meanwhile, Smith captioned the post, sharing that her hair journey had been deeply emotional. After nearly three years of struggling with severe eczema, she often felt hopeless. However, having a supportive partner who stood by her through the tough times and motivated her to work on healing made a big difference in how she viewed the experience.
