Former music executive Suge Knight is weighing in on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing trial. Knight, who is currently in prison in San Diego, opined on why he thinks Combs should also be incarcerated.
In an exclusive conversation with People magazine from prison, Knight commented on the CCTV footage that showed Combs attacking his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016. Knight remarked:
“He does deserve [prison]. I don't mean like… ‘Oh, you beat the sh*t out of Cassie, so, oh well.’ No, she's a woman. You should never disrespect a woman like that. What I am saying is how do we fix this? I think everyone should be held accountable — even myself. I don’t care who it is. Anybody who does those horrible things to women deserves their issue.”
The footage of Combs beating Ventura was initially released by CNN in 2024. As per USA Today, the video was also played during Combs’ ongoing trial, where Ventura took the stand.
Combs stands accused of sx trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering, as per BBC.

Suge Knight earlier insisted that Diddy should be freed
Suge Knight, who was the co-founder of Death Row Records, was engaged in a decades-old rap feud with Bad Boy Records founder Sean “Diddy” Combs, also known as “Puffy” or “Puff.” Despite their rivalry—which has made its way into testimony during Diddy’s trial—Suge Knight earlier argued on NewsNation’s Cuomo why he thought Diddy should be acquitted.
As per USA Today, Knight said in May:
“I say this all the time, Puffy and I are not friends, but Puffy should definitely walk free. The most important thing is that it was other executives that was involved in Puff's life. And for Puffy to be the only guy that gets on the stand is a sad day for hip-hop.”
Knight referred to Capricorn Clark, who took the stand in the trial against Diddy, and alleged that she was given a check to keep quiet about a reported ‘beating’ incident involving Diddy, noted USA Today. Continuing, Knight added:
“So when Jimmy, I think, gave her that check, that's when all hell broke off. But at the same time, I don't think there's a case where Puffy should be going to prison.”

Now, during his conversation with People magazine, Knight clarified his earlier position and explained:
“I never said he should walk away a free man.”
According to the publication, Knight added:
“It bothers me. And you know I'm far from an angel. I ain't the devil, but I'm not angel. Simple facts: Cassie and these women can’t beat a man up. And I don’t believe no woman want someone pi**ing on them or their mouth.”
Knight also had some suggestions for Diddy. The former executive noted what his advice would be for Diddy and said:
“If I could talk to Puffy, I would. But for me to convince him to do the right thing?…You know how big that would be if he told the truth? At the end of the day — this trial —everybody’s watching. Why not make this a healing process? So, if I can man up… Puffy, don’t be a b*tch, my n***a. Go in there and man up.”
People magazine also noted that while Suge Knight maintained that Diddy isn’t a victim, he still claims he feels bad for the disgraced record executive.
