Tennessee shooting claims life of Ole Miss freshman Corey Adams

Ole Miss freshman Corey Adams tragically passed away at the Tennessee shooting. The University of Mississippi, which is in Oxford, Mississippi, posted a statement on social media that said:

“While our program is trying to cope with this tragic loss, our thoughts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Out of respect for his family, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask the Ole Miss community to keep Corey in their thoughts and respect the privacy of everyone involved.”

The young player was a lineman in the team and just 18 years old at the time of his passing.


Corey Adams passes away in the Tennessee shooting

Adams was found with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle at an intersection in Cordova, which is a short distance from Memphis, by Law enforcement officials. According to the sheriff’s office, Corey Adams died in an incident on Saturday night. It is said to believe that he died at the scene of the shooting, in which four other men are also believed to be injured. The sheriff’s office released a statment which also stated:

“They provided life-saving measures until Shelby County Fire arrived. Shelby County Fire personnel later pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.”

Before Ole Miss, the teenager was enrolled in Edna Karr High School in New Orleans and was a standout.

After announcing he would go to Ole Miss, he expressed:

“I do a lot of wild stuff on the field. My coach was not lying. I really do some crazy stuff. I’m aggressive. I’m hard. You can’t make me bow down. Somebody is going to have to surrender when I’m on the field. I don’t fear nobody, and that’s how it’s going to stay.”

While his old school team reacted to the news and showed support:

“Corey Adams was more than a football player! He was a friend, brother, son, student, and all around great young man. We never question God but this is one we just don’t understand.”

The police have not yet named any suspects; however, the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
