Ahead of the release of Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively's upcoming movie, Another Simple Favor, the former was asked by a reporter how it feels that the movie was being affected by “everything going on in the world,” to which she seemingly brushed off the question by asking "why, what happened?" before walking away.
The clip has since gone viral, prompting varied reactions online. Scores have begun comparing her to her co-star, with some even claiming that she has far better media training than the It Ends With Us actress. Here's what one user said, for instance:
"This is a textbook example of being properly media trained, ain’t gonna get any sound bites outta me."
The comments didn't end there, as scores online were teeming with opinions:
"She deserves better costars," someone opined.
"The face of someone who is absolutely done with vague questions," another jested.
"Anna Kendrick mastering the art of saying a lot without saying anything at all," one more echoed.
"She’s calculating how to answer without actually answering," yet another pointed out.
Here are some more reactions from X users:
"Anna Kendrick out here turning every interview into a masterclass on keeping it real!" someone exclaimed.
"It’s called media training. You’ll never get her real answer lol Always keep it professional," yet another pointed out.
"Anna Kendrick couldn’t have answered this better," one more chimed in.
"She heard the question and mentally clocked out immediately," an X user jested.
Scores online lauded the actress for the way she played off the question.
Anna Kendrick brushes off questions about working with Blake Lively: Read more
At the SXSW premiere of her and Lively's upcoming film on March 7, Kendrick was asked on how it felt to be working with Lively again after the first installment of the series came out in 2018.
“Oh, you know,” Kendrick told Entertainment Tonight, before she walked off to take a selfie with one of her fans.
The outlet also probed Lively about how she felt, to which she said:
“Oh, it’s the best! I’m so happy to be here.”
When asked by Variety about the film being “impacted” by what’s “going on in the world”, as they seemingly referred to Lively's ongoing legal controversy with It Ends With Us costar and director Justin Baldoni, she said:
“Why? What happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life is just gone. But I have heard the movie is amazing.”
Rumors that the two did not get along on set while filming the first film have been swirling for a while now, though a source told Us Weekly that this isn't true:
“There aren’t any issues between Blake and Anna right now,” the insider explained last month, noting that both actresses “really love” the forthcoming sequel and planned to “be doing press together.”
However, they also added that the two actresses were disappointed “to see all the hate online.” Instead, they "want fans to focus on the film and not any outside drama,” the source claimed.
Another Simple Favor is in theaters right now. Apart from Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, it features Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Aparna Nancherla, Kelly McCormack, Ian Ho and Joshua Satine, among others.
