Teyana Taylor has revealed that she needs vocal surgery immediately to remove a noncancerous growth.

The singer, actress, and creative director recently took to her Instagram Stories to confirm the news, revealing that she had been struggling with her vocals for a while. Following a string of medical evaluations, a benign growth was discovered on one of her vocal cords, which the doctors said necessitated surgery.

“And after a lot of back and forth with my doctors, I’ve been told I need vocal surgery immediately,” Taylor wrote. “They’ve found a noncancerous growth on one of my cords that’s been messing with my voice and causing real discomfort. Thankfully, we caught it & it's treatable, but it does mean I need to pause and give myself some time to fully heal."

In her memo, Teyana Taylor, 31, said she'd that her forthcoming scheduled appearances have all been axed, including one on Michelle Obama’s I Miss You… I Hope… podcast. However, her forthcoming album, ‘Escape Room,’ is expected to debut this August 22.

"Just as I was getting ready to finally share this with you, life handed me my own unexpected 'escape room' — one I didn't ask for, but one I now have to find my way out of with patience, rest and faith," Taylor said.

She continued,

"This moment hurts. I wanted to give you everything, the full vision. But please know I put my whole heart into this music, this film, this rollout. And when I return, it'll be with even more fire, more purpose and the best version of me. Thank you for rocking with me through it all," she ended her post. "For the grace, the love and the space to heal. I can't wait to be on the other side of this — stronger, softer and singing again."

Teyana Taylor's previous health struggles explored:

As reported by People Magazine, this isn't Teyana Taylor's first health scare. Back in 2021, she underwent surgery in Miami after she discovered lumps in her breasts. At the time, she and her ex-husband, Iman Shumpert's reality series We Got Love Teyana & Iman, was airing.

In one of the episodes, Teyana Taylor could be seen speaking with a physician about her "dense" breast tissue. A biopsy confirmed that the results were fine:

"I just want this to be the last time I go through this," Taylor explained during the episode. "Cancer runs through my family, so it's a scary thing both for me and Iman. My number one priority is to hurry up and get back home, but I know I need to take care of what I need to take care of as well," she said at the time.

In other news, the mom of two was seen striking a pose with her daughters, Rue Rose, 4, and Iman "Junie" Tayla, 9, on August 5, during their visit to the SiriusXM Studio in New York City. She shares her daughters with her ex-husband.

People Magazine has reported that Teyana Taylor filed for divorce from him back in January 2023, but waited for nine months before she announced their split. At the time, she told her fans on Instagram that she and the father of her kids would remain "best friends" and continue to co-parent them.

"Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT," she said.
