Well-known Twitch streamer Emiru or Emily Schunk was assaulted by a fan during a meet-and-greet session at TwitchCon in San Diego. According to a video footage circulating on social media platforms, a male fan can be seen approaching the streamer on stage and appeared to kiss her neck without consent.

Security can be seen intervening and pushing the man away. Emiru was quickly escorted offstage to security. The incident has sparked widespread anger among Emiru fans and the Twitch streaming community. Users took to comment under @BaconCrumbz X post.

A user (@dumplingboyj) suggested that the fan in question should be sent to jail,

"That guy needs to go to jail, disgusting human being"

Another user (@AI_EmeraldApple) accused Twitch con for allegedly not providing good security,

"Twitchcon doesn't even know how to run a safe event. People getting SA'ed, other breaking their back, etc."

Another user (@stableronfan) wondered how the man acts around his mothers and sisters,

"Ppl are genuinely so detached from society , in what world is it ok to do that to a woman in general , how do these people act around there mothers and sisters"

Another user (@Yesma087) insinuated that security waited for the entire incident to unfold before rushing in to help,

"Security is just not there, let him walk up to her, hold her for like 2 seconds and gave him a little push. Is this the better security you were talking about Dan Clancy? (Banned her actual security guard for being good at his job btw)"

Another user (@iHoushouMarine) wondered if the incident will traumatize the streamer for future events,

"Emiru is gonna be meeting every person and walking around with anxiety, at least I would cause you never know who you're gonna encounter at these events."

Fans enraged at Twitch CEO Dan Clancy after Emiru incident

The recent Twitchcon event in San Diego where streamer Emiru was assaulted is not the first time such incidents have happened at Twitchcon. Valkyrae and QTCinderella during a recent conversation in their Wine About It podcast noted that they are concerned about attending Twitchcon after Japanese streamer Airi Sato was killed during a live broadcast in March, 2025.

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy on September 24 while addressing concerns said that they take security at their events "extremely seriously" and that they build on "successful approaches to TwitchCon safety and security."

Clancy also noted that Twitch had teams dedicated to ensure safety year-around and that the event enforces a zero-tolerance police on harassment.

Since the assault incident happened despite Clancy's statement, social media users across different social media platforms have expressed anger towards the CEO's measures.
