Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, suffered a left amputation in a surgery last week. On Friday, Thomas Markle Jr. shared about the surgery that took place in the Philippines. The Duchess of Sussex and her father had not been on talking terms since her marriage to Prince Harry. While speaking with the Daily Mail, Meghan Markle's half-brother urged her to contact their father.

Many on the internet called out the Suits alum for not connecting with her father even during the health crisis. However, on Friday, the Duchess rep issued a statement and confirmed that she "has reached out" to her father. Later on Sunday, The Mail on Sunday reported that Meghan Markle's father was "confused" with claims that his daughter reached out to him.

As per the Page Six report, in a series of tweets, Meghan Markle's half-sister also disputed claims that the Duchess contacted her father. However, on December 7, people reported that Sussex sent an email to her father. The outlet reported that she could not call Thomas Markle, as he was not in possession of his phone.

Now, on December 9, citing The Times report, People magazine shared that Meghan Markle is reportedly planning to send a handwritten note to her father. A source close to the Duchess told The Times that contact would be made within a day.

"There’s been progress, but she hasn’t made contact [yet] … It’s hoped and expected that there will be some form of communication in the next 24 hours."

However, when People magazine attempted to gather more information on the update from the As Ever founder's rep, they did not hear back.

Meghan Markle's previous failed attempts to reach out to her estranged father following his leg amputation

In its December 7 report, People noted that the email Meghan Markle went through without any error, and she also tried to gather contact information. However, the mail address had not been in use for so long. Due to his critical medical condition, Thomas Markle does not have his phone with him.

With Love, Meghan reportedly contacted several hospitals in the Philippines to locate her father, but could not succeed.

"Mr. Markle is a VIP patient. Of course we all know who he is. If Meghan or anyone connected with her had called here, we would have known. It is a big hospital by Filipino standards but we all know each other and we all talk. We were all confused when we saw the story that the duchess had reached out to her dad. As far as we are aware it didn't happen. We would love to see the duchess here in the Philippines!" source told the Newspaper.

Meghan Markle's father also spoke to the newspaper and expressed his strong desire to talk to his daughter.

"Of course I want to speak to her but I am not sure if these are the right circumstances. I've always said I am open to reconciling with my daughter. I have never stopped loving her. I don't want to die estranged from Meghan. I want to meet my grandkids. It might be nice to meet her husband too," Thomas Markle said.

As per the Daily Mail, Meghan Markle's ailing father was shifted from the ICU to a regular room on Monday after the doctors declared the surgery successful.
