Rapper and streamer DDG's restraining order request against the singer and actress Halle Bailey (and also the mother of his child) has been denied.
As reported by People Magazine, the court also ruled against the streamer's bid to prevent mother and son, 17-month-old Halo, from leaving the country as Halle Bailey plans to travel for work.
DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., filed the emergency order on Wednesday, June 4, and his motion was denied the following day. During that time, Halle Bailey filed a counter-motion to dismiss his bid and request permission to fly to Italy.
Fans have since begun trolling the rapper online, especially since news of the court ruling emerged, alleging that he was abusive towards The Little Mermaid actress. However, a few have stayed loyal to him. Here's how one fan reacted on X, for instance:
"Wow, they don’t wanna see a king win"
The comments and remarks didn't end there. Here's how the rest of X is acting.
"Hope Halle and her baby enjoy Italy, Happy early Father’s Day to her! Halo is in excellent hands"
"Bro thought he was gonna go against a Disney princess and win?"
"should’ve seen it coming Men winning cases like this is very rare"
"This ain’t right at all"
Even more chimed in to join the ongoing discussion.
"that's lame if he filed for a restraining order obviously he didn’t want her near him. They should’ve let it go through"
"damn this drama is wilddd did they really think they could stop a mermai princess lmao"
"This is evidence of bias towards men, Halle automatically receives the privilege of a restraining order until the court dates without requiring any evidence or proof of her claim. Yet DDG provides clear evidence of her abuse and gets denied..."
Users were visibly divided online, with some even siding with DDG.
DDG and Halle Bailey's legal battle rages on: Here's what we know
As reported by People Magazine, in his filing, DDG petitioned for a domestic violence restraining order, alleging that Halle Bailey posed what he called
"imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child based on repeated, documented threats of self-harm."
He claimed that if his child were to leave the country, Halo would be left without the protection of the court and any "emergency intervention mechanisms." However, the judge seemingly didn't find his case compelling enough, stating:
DDG's "request for an order prohibiting (Bailey) from traveling outside the United States with the parties' minor child (Halo) is denied," the order read, according to USA Today. This was due to finding "insufficient evidence of imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child during (Bailey's) business trip to Italy."
Halle Bailey was granted a temporary restraining order against DDG back in May. At the time, she accused him of physical, emotional, verbal, and financial abuse, and also petitioned the court to grant her full legal and physical custody of Halo.
Furthermore, USA Today also reported that Bailey pushed for no-contact and stay-away orders for both herself and her child. This means that he would be prohibited from meeting or getting in touch with the two, in addition to maintaining a 100-yard distance from both of them.
DDG, his family, and his friends are also barred from posting about them on social media. Halle Bailey penned in a statement attached to her filing:
"I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this. I never know when he is going to demand our son be in his mother's care and whether I will be subjected to his threats and abuse."
