DJ Akademiks is an internet personality and YouTuber best known for his ties to the hip-hop music community.Recently, the Jamaican-American personality took to X on January 1 to voice his opinion on the current state of hip-hop. His first X post addressed artists losing their appeal due to over-exposure to their audiences.“The internet removed all mystique from rappers …. I just seen a convo where a rapper still tryna convince ppl they r so cool… bruh.. we see yall lives 360.. u just as corny as the ppl u flexing on. U and ur audience the same. Streaming killed rappers AURA.”He then went on to say,“If I signed a rapper id forbid them from going on any streamer platform. Why? Cuz the facade of being bigger than the program .. cooler than the normal. Is what rappers live off. Every time I see a rapper on a stream I’m reminded.. dis ni**a lame like me he just won the lottery”Finally, his last X message, while in the same stream of consciousness, highlighted 2 artists that managed to separate themselves from the herd in his opinion.“2025 exposed all our fav cool rappers besides YB n Carti n a few more as being lame asf. They just like us internet ni*gas. Ever since we can’t take em serious no more. They just like us .. w a lil more money n clout”DJ Akademiks spoke about Stefon Diggs in a recent livestreamIn other news, a clip of DJ Akademiks recently surfaced on Instagram in which he commented on NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs’s current legal situation.
