Comedian Adam Carolla, during an appearance on conservative commentator Emily Jashinsky's podcast, After Party, on July 30, was asked about Ellen DeGeneres' recent move to the UK after Donald Trump's presidential win.

While answering the question, Carolla claimed that DeGeneres has always been a "mean person" and that it came as a surprise to him when she spoke about the "grave injustice" under Trump's new immigration policy.

Carolla also shared an anecdote of the two occasions he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he met staff who were "scared to death" of Ellen.

Carolla recalled that DeGeneres was a staunch vegan during their 2012 taping and wanted to avoid topics revolving around meat at the time.

"(The producer) goes, 'You're not going to talk about meat or beef or anything like that, right? And I go, 'No, I'm not. I'm just going to talk about the stuff we talked about - going on vacation at Christmas or the kids or you know, their anecdotes."

However, Adam Carolla claimed that the producer allegedly looked paranoid and returned to the room again to remind him about not discussing meat,

"He came back like 20 minutes later right before I went out, and he's like, 'OK, but don't talk about beef or meat or any(thing). I was like, 'Oh, this guy's scared to death."

Adam Carolla reveals Ellen DeGeneres' staff called her the "worst person"

While discussing Ellen DeGeneres' latest move to the UK with Emily Jashinsky, Adam Carolla opened up about another incident from his past appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Carolla mentioned that Ellen's staff described her as the "worst person."

"Later on, I talked to someone who signed an NDA, so I won't say his name, but he wrote for Ellen. I just went, 'How's Ellen?' And he said, 'Worst person, worst person. Not worst person I've worked for. Worst person I've ever met."

Adam Carolla described that while he never saw Ellen being mean to her staff firsthand, her staff "cowering" around her was evidence enough.

"She's not going to be mean to me. I'm a guest on the show, right? So, I wouldn't know it from my exchanges. I would know it with how her staff was cowering."

DeGeneres was earlier accused of creating a toxic work environment in 2020 by ten former and one current employee, after which she issued an apology. After running her talk show for nearly two decades, the show came to an end in 2022.

Other celebrities have also come out to talk about Ellen DeGeneres' alleged bullying. Margaret Cho, an American stand-up comedian and actress, during a June 2025 appearance on The Kelly Mantle Show, said that she is "scared of Ellen" and that "everyone should be scared of Ellen."
