Tony Buzbee has allegedly responded to Jay-Z's countersuit against his client and him.
The rapper is suing Tony Buzbee and his client, Jane Doe, for defamation, noting that the rape allegations levied against him are "false" and "malicious," and were “strategically and tactically calculated and time to inflict maximum pain and suffering on Mr. Carter.” Jane Doe accused the rapper and disgraced mogul Diddy of s*xually assaulting her in 2000, when she was a minor.
In a statement shared on Instagram by The Shade Room, the attorney said:
"This new case alleges the same claims as the other one they pieced together and filed in Los Angeles. Like the one in LA, this new case in Alabama also has no legal merit. Shawn Carter's investigators have repeatedly harassed, threatened and harangued this poor woman for weeks trying to intimidate her and make her recant her story. She hasn't, and won't. Instead she has stated repeatedly she stands by her claims."
The statement goes on:
"These same group of investigators have been caught on tape offering to pay people to sue me and my firm. After speaking with Jane Doe today, it's clear to me that the quotes attributed to her in the lawsuit are completely made up, or they spoke to someone who isn't Jane Doe. This is just another attempt to intimidate and bully this poor woman, that we will deal with in due course. We won't be bullied or intimidated by frivolous cases."
Jay-Z's suit against Tony Buzbee and Jane Doe explored:
Jane Doe's case against Jay-Z was dismissed with prejudice, which means it cannot be refiled. Rolling Stone has confirmed that the rapper is now countersuing for malicious prosecution and defamation. According to Hot New Hip Hop, he has named both of Doe's lawyers, Buzbee and David Forney, as co-defendants.
The rapper is alleging that all three parties "conspired" to extort him with a "completely fabricated" tale. The suit also claims that Jay-Z's legal team contacted Jane Doe and got her to admit that the allegations levied against him were false. She allegedly felt "pressured" by Buzbee and Forney to double down on her allegations during an interview with NBC in December.
As reported by That Grape Juice, the filing, made in Alabama just today, reads as follows, in part:
“Doe has now voluntarily admitted directly to representatives of Mr. Carter that the story brought before the world in court and on global television was just that: a false, malicious story. She has admitted that Mr. Carter did not assault her; and that indeed it was Buzbee himself … who pushed her to go forward with the false narrative of the assault by Mr. Carter in order to leverage a maximum payday.”
Jay-Z is accusing Buzbee of resorting to shady tactics and spreading lies about him to get him to pay them. The rapper alleges that they damaged his family and reputation. Furthermore, he claims that his company, Roc Nation, took a $20 million hit because of their allegations.
Hot New Hip Hop has reported that Jay-Z and his legal counsel are seeking restitution in the form of real and punitive damages.
