TikToker Kaitlyn Teaches responds to backlash over husband packing dog food in her lunchbox

TikToker Kaitlyn Teaches has come out to respond to the backlash her husband is facing after her now viral video of her unpacking a dog food lunchbox he packed for her. In the video, Kaitlyn unpacks a lunch her husband had dropped off for her and the attempt at a joke he had made.

To respond to the video that has been viewed by millions, she made another TikTok clarifying it all. In the video that she posted on September 2, she states,

“It’s time to explain what happened this weekend. A few people—30 million to be exact, and more because it’s been posted to other platforms—have seen the video of me unpacking the lunch, the dog food that my husband packed me. And most of you, half of you, three-fourths, 75 percent, hated it. You thought it was horrific, horrible and the worst thing that’s ever happened to anybody.”

She then went ahead and clarified the joke.

“Y’all are so pressed that he called me a dog. He did not call me a D-O-G. He did not call me that,” she added. “D-A-W-G. Dawg as in homie, American slang for homie. It’s what we call each other. It’s a joke, J-O-K-E, joke,” further adding.

“That’s why he put it in a bag, so it didn’t get on my food. This was at the bottom because he thought of it last. And he tried to hide it under the Chipotle so that it would be a surprise because it was funny," insisting to the fan that it was a joke.

In the video, which has now garnered more than 30 million views, she does an on-camera unboxing of the quick lunch her husband packed for her, which included a full package of Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, an almost empty bag of Dot’s pretzels, an apple, an entire package of Pringle-like chips, another bag of cookies, her two-day-old Chipotle burrito bowl leftovers, and the joke in question: a bag of dog food with a note attached reading, “Because you’re my dawg.”

He added another note, asking her to bring the dog food back, as they need it.

She concluded the unpacking by saying, “So ladies, if you don't have food and your husband has to bring you a lunch, just know that you're going to get lots of food. As well as maybe even a cute note. This is nice. This is great,” she said with a chuckle, taking it as the joke it was meant to be.

And while most people laughed along with her, some were offended by the creator. In her explanation video, Kaitlyn said in the end,

“The dog food was a sweet surprise that made me laugh,” she concluded. “Thank you for the love and the hate, both does the same for me.”

Doubling down on the fact that her husband’s actions were ill-intentioned.
