Taylor had 246.5K followers on TikTok and had a channel named The Unpopular Party on YouTube. He was also active on Instagram and posted his last video on August 18.

As per the statement, the TikTok star was a member of the Zeta Phi Chapter, Spring 2017 line, and was known for his "infectious laughter." The message said that he made everyone feel welcome and valued. The statement further read,
"To his family—who raised a remarkable man—we extend our deepest sympathies. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this unimaginable time of loss. We also hold in our hearts the many friends, fraternity Brothers, and peers who are grieving. The impact Malik made in just a few years is immeasurable, and his memory will live on in each of us."
