"Wait, actually?": JoJo Siwa reacts to boyfriend Chris Hughes' surprise announcement mid interview

JoJo Siwa is on quite a run. In the latest news about the singer and reality television star, Siwa recently received some surprise news from her boyfriend, Chris Hughes, mid-interview that wound up making her night.

On October 21, JoJo Siwa was set to attend the Dancers Against Cancer Gala in Los Angeles. Moments before walking the red carpet, Hughes informed Siwa that she would be the recipient of the night’s Humanitarian Award during an exclusive interview with E! News.

JoJo Siwa was in disbelief, and her reaction reflected as much,

"Wait, actually? I'm in shock right now."

Hughes then responded to his partner, proud of her accomplishment

"I'm gonna be a proper mess onstage. You should be very proud. I’m sorry, I know I shouldn't be laughing right now but you're so cute."

JoJo Siwa’s charitable work

JoJo Siwa’s contribution to the dance community as a whole was on full display at the Dancers Against Cancer benefit. A statement on their official website further highlights the results of Siwa’s charitable efforts.

"JoJo’s philanthropic efforts, particularly with Dancers Against Cancer (DAC), demonstrate her dedication to the dance community that spurred her career. As an active supporter, she helps raise awareness and funds for DAC’s mission to provide financial aid to dancers, choreographers, and dance educators battling cancer."

The statement goes on to mention JoJo’s mother as well,

"Her journey has been supported by her mother, Jessalynn Siwa, a studio owner who has played a crucial role in her career, instilling strong values of perseverance and community support."

Clearly, dance was a foundational part of her younger years, and now she intends to use it as a vehicle to give back.

JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes met on the set of Celebrity Big Brother U.K. While at the time Siwa identified as a lesbian, the pair hit it off and officially began dating in June 2025.

When speaking with E! at the time, Siwa shared her thoughts on her newfound love,

“What I realized with Christopher is I never have second guessed my feelings for him. Therefore, I've never second guessed my happiness, I've never second guessed what I'm feeling. And I think that's the most beautiful thing.”

She went on to add,

“When I think about him, I'm full of pure joy. When I speak about him, I'm full of pure joy.”

It seems as though the couple is going strong, as they have also newly become red carpet official as well.
